Matheran is one of the beautiful & small Hill Station of india situated in Raigad district of Maharashtra.It is located on the Western Ghats range with the elevation of 800 meters about 2,600 feet above sea level. It is about 90 km from Mumbai city & 120 km from Pune. Matheran is Asia's only automobile-free hill station & available transport options are horses & hand-pulled rickshaws.

Matheran Hill Railway is a 2 ft (610 mm) narrow gauge heritage railway in Maharashtra, India.

 The Matheran Hill Railway was built in 1907 by Sir Adamjee Peerbhoy at the cost of Rs.16 lakh.
