The Honda CRF250R was arguably the most highly anticipated bike for 2018—and for good reason. The bike was all new from the ground up with a new electric start-equipped DOHC engine, new frame, a Showa 49mm coil spring fork replacing the TAC air fork, and new bodywork. When we first tested the all-new machine at the introduction at Zaca Station MX in late October, we were pleased to learn the new bike addressed a lot of what we desired in the the previous-generation model, namely better top-end power and a better fork. While the new Honda certainly did not disappoint, we knew full well coming into the shootout how incredibly competitive the class is but found it to be the overall favorite from our test riders after two rigorous days of testing, which gave it the win in our 2018 250F MX Shootout.
