Here's a clear full proof tutorial on how to make Maple Peanut Brittle.  If you follow the recipe without altering it, you'll have perfect results.  Don't take it upon yourself and use margarine or etc.  If you change the ingredients, don't expect the same results.  

Ingredients:
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup white/light/clear corn syrup 
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup raw or dry roasted peanuts

*if you're allergic to peanuts you could use any nut or seed in place just use the same quantity.
