「Learn Japanese」 NOUN + 風 as "NOUN-style, looks like NOUN"

The word 風 (ふう), which translates to "manner, method, way, style, etc.," can be attached to a NOUN word as a suffix to create the meaning of "NOUN-style, looks like NOUN, NOUN-type, etc." The two most common constructions of this grammar pattern are

1.) using the grammar pattern itself to make an outright statement, i.e. SUBJECTはNOUN風(だ/です) as "SUBJECT is NOUN-style" or "SUBJECT looks like NOUN."

2.) using the grammar pattern to serve as an adjective to entity in a noun-of-a-noun modification, i.e. NOUN風の(SUBJECT/DIRECT-OBJECT/INDIRECT-OBJECT/SEPARATE-ENTITY)

*風 (ふう) is also used in the 風 (ふう)に grammar pattern that is used to describe actions.

Example(s):

このコスチュームは吸血鬼風だ。
Kono costume wa kyuuketsuki fuu da.
(This costume looks like a vampire.)

世界中で洋風の結婚式は人気がある。
Sekaijyuu de youfuu no kekkonshiki wa ninki ga aru.
(All around the world, Western style weddings are popular.)

あのヤンキー風の人を避けた方がいいよ。
Ano yankii fuu no hito o saketa hou ga iiyo.
(It's best to avoid that delinquent-type person.)
