Some examples of the Israeli occupation forces firing tear gas in the Salayme and Qeitun neighbourhoods of Hebron in November 2018. Salayme and Qeitun neighbourhoods lie in a narrow part of the valley about 200 m across. Israeli soldiers and border police fired 228 rounds of tear gas (including 34 in a single day) and 51 concussion grenades in 15 school days during Nov 4 to 27. (Statistics courtesy of Christian Peacemaker Team Hebron) These were fired at school children before and after school into residential neighbourhoods where families live with many children. Tear gas is a toxic nerve agent and long term exposure can cause cancer. This amounts to chemical warfare on an ongoing basis against a civilian population under occupation.
