More at http://GenkiEnglish.net/teaching I've just come back from rural India where we've been helping the teachers (and kids!) with Genki English and Jolly Phonics. Obviously the rich in India speak English and can get lucrative jobs, but for the poorest communities, including the kids here, the lack of spoken English really holds them back. The traditional way of learning in India is incredibly boring rote learning. So we're here to genki things up a little bit. Two days ago these teachers had no idea about phonics or Genki English and this is their first time teaching it to the kids! Hope you like the quick look around the school, and enjoyed seeing the sorts of projects that your support helps me to do, Is this school much different from your own? Be genki, Richard P.S. The game in the video is "Phonics Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down" : the teachers says a word, if it has today's sound in it the kids do thumbs up. If it doesn't they do thumbs down!
