In the buffer zone of the Megantoni National Sanctuary in the Peruvian Amazon, the Rainforest Alliance’s Sustainable Landscapes team worked with farmers, local governments and businesses to develop a new means of coffee and cocoa production that conserves forests, builds climate resilience, and strengthens the role of women farmers. This work is part of the Initiative for Conservation in the Andean Amazon (ICAA), a long-term regional program created by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) that brings together more than 30 local and international partner organizations for the conservation of the Amazon biome in Ecuador, Colombia and Peru. The Rainforest Alliance is an international nonprofit organization that stands for biodiversity conservation and sustainable livelihoods.
