As far as the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer is concerned, the UK will continue to bow to Brussels diktats after Brexit Day.

Philip Hammond has angered Brexiteers by declaring that the UK will retain the same rules and regulations that apply within the single market and customs union during any transition period.

He said that although we will have ‘technically’ left the EU’s single market and customs union, we will be replicating the status quo on both trade and migration.

Whilst on a trade mission in China, Mr Hammond was asked by Sky News if the UK would be participating in a transition period that would allow us to take part in the single market and customs union as well as still being under ECJ rule.
