The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu says for Nigeria to move away from a consumer nation tag to an innovative and productive status that will boost employment as well as her GDP, the Ministry is establishing technology villages to encourage innovations. He stated this on NTA’s programme, Good Morning Nigeria as the discourse focused on the critical roles of science and technology in Nigeria’s development. This administration has a vision of becoming one of the 20 largest economies in the world by year 2020. To bring Nigeria to this place it is imperative that she begins to fully integrate science, technology and innovation into the nation’s socio–economic development process.  The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbononaya Onu, one of the guest’s on the programme said the vision for science and technology is strongly engraved as one of the areas of focus for the change mantra. The minister emphasised that these innovations will help diversify the economy and improve productivity in all sectors. Dr Umar Bindir, secretary to the Adamawa state government and former Director General NOTAP who joined the conversation via sykpe noted that for Nigeria to get it right with science and technology the ministry must move away from being sectorial to getting the value chain right and bridge technological gaps. The need for Nigerians to reset their minds to appreciate science and technology was also stressed by participants on the programme.
