GREENE COUNTY -- A FOX 45/ABC 22 exclusive investigation into misconduct by two Greene County jail employees and the shocking details on what we found in their employment files.A month-long investigation found both employees had inappropriate relationships with female inmates.Does it happen very often? No it doesn't. It's odd that we have two in one year, said Sheriff Gene Fischer.Former Greene County Deputy Geoff Lewis, an 11-year veteran, resigned amid scandal in 2013. Corrections Officer Brian Marzluf, an eight-year veteran, was fired. An internal investigation revealed inappropriate conduct between Lewis and a female inmate.A co-worker reported Lewis, saying he hid Chapstick in the inmate's toilet paper roll and gave her a Valentine's Day card. The inmate told investigators that Lewis, Kissed me and grabbed my butt ... and he asked me not to say anything. But what got him into big trouble was lying during the internal investigation. The big deal is it takes the reputation of the agency, the corrections officer, and law enforcement as a whole and says we can do what we want. Well, we can't do what we want. There is a distinct demand by the public that we do this, this and this and that crosses the line, Fischer said.A few months after the Lewis case wrapped up there was another investigation at the jail. This time involving corrections officers Marzluf.A co-worker told superiors about suspicions of Marzluf having an inappropriate relationship with an inmate.According to an internal investigation, fellow inmates said they kissed, body parts were touched. The inmate herself told investigators she, Had a sexual relationship with Marzluf outside the jail for a couple of months.Marzluf admitted to having sex with the inmate the night she got out of jail in her parents' backyard.Even though the inmate was out of jail when the admitted intimate encounter occurred, she was on probation, so a relationship is against department policy.Sheriff Fischer says the rules haven't changed since these incidents because he believes the current procedures and policies for reporting misconduct worked.
