African Heads of State will later in January meet in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa to elect a chairperson for the African Union. Candidates are at the moment engaged in shuttle diplomacy across the continent seeking support ahead of the elections. Whoever wins that election will have their hands full trying to stop conflicts in various countries across the continent. In East Africa Rwanda and Kenya will head to the polls in August, as mediators continue to push for an end to the conflicts in South Sudan and Burundi.
