The Utah mayor who was on his fourth deployment to Afghanistan when he was shot dead last week had just posted about the gains America was making in the war against terror. On October 29, Brent Taylor shared photos of the men and women of Afghanistan making their way to the polls for the first time in close to a decade. 'It was beautiful to see over 4 million Afghan men and women brave threats and deadly attacks to vote in Afghanistan’s first parliamentary elections in eight years,' wrote Henry. 'The strong turnout, despite the attacks and challenges, was a success for the long-suffering people of Afghanistan and for the cause of human freedom.' Of the images he shared, the most striking was one of a Muslim woman deposition her ballot in a voting box as he noted: 'A record number of women ran for Parliament and voted in this month's election.'
