Barroso Seeks Second Term as EU Commission President

Jose Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, today told journalists that he is seeking a second term. After a meeting with the Czech EU President, he told journalists that he is willing to stand for a five years second term as chief of the executive body of the European Union. He explained that the outcome of the European Parliament elections make it possible to clarify his own intentions and says that he is honored that the President of the European Council has today asked him if he can put forward his name for a second mandate. He adds that he has agreed to this request.
