Michael John Murphy is a folk musician and singer songwriter since the 1970s. He plays various instruments, including the guitar, piano and Native American flute. Murphy has worked on film scores, performed at the National Music Museum, and appeared all over Nebraska and many other states. A career highlight was a 2011 performance at the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington D.C. Here, he talks about connectedness, symbolism, and our shared opportunities. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
