OK folks this video is not that helpful as I don't show everything but I did my 9500 mile service myself on the weekend of 8/16. If your going to DIY your service I do say, PLEASE make sure you buy a service manual and see what is required to be done at service intervals. What needs to be done is not documented in any forum like SL and the instructions are very well worth paying for the service manual. At 9500 most things are inspection so it's another service interval you really can do yourself unless you see a problem on inspection! Nothing real major of this service but lots of inspections points. Everything for me checked out so basically another oil change! What amazed me is NO BELT adjustment was needed! My Spyder is running great and no issues for me. As this video will allude to, I will show another video showing SM5 folks how to flush the clutch system. I think you need to do this right away if your fluid looks like crap! Stay tuned for that. FYI, because I have a SM5 and can decide WHEN to downshift, my break pads look GREAT! Downshifting vs not and using breaks on this bike will cost you in break pad replacement. I had to add 2 tablespoons of break fluid on this service! This indicates break pad wear as the more you have to add, the more wear you have had on your pads! I can easily see my break pads will probably go 30K miles. We shall see. But if yours are out in much less than that, learn to use your engine to slow you rather than the breaks! My 2 cents! Finally the ONLY thing I did not do in this service schedule was to remove the airbox and clean oil from it. Because I have a SM5 with a vacuum hose that comes out the bottom of the airbox, I was more able to "test" this issue. Removing the airbox to inspect and clean is A MAJOR PAIN IN THE ASS on a RT. I admit to taking a shortcut here. It's the only thing I did not do and I think I am fine anyway. The 14000 mile service will be very different. Depending on where my extended warranty is (end in Jan 2016), I may have this done by a dealer or say "F" IT and do it myself. We shall see in about 8-10 months.
