Wenn du mich küßt, versinkt die Welt um mich (When You Kiss Me, The World Sinks Around Me), Blues/Slowfox (Harry Ralton) – Orchester (Fred Bird Rhythmicians?) mit Refraingesang (Luigi Bernauer?), Homocord 1928 (Germany) NOTE: Fred BIRD (ne Felix Lehmann 1889 in Darmstadt, Germany – d. in 1942 in Auschwitz?) In 1924 Felix Lehmann was a musical director of a new recording company Homophon Co. in Berlin, which later was transformed into Homocord records. He led the studio band under the names: Fred Bird Orchester, Fred Bird’s Rhythmicians, Félix Lameau Orchester, Homocord Orchester or simply Orchester (the last label name was used only for the commercial dance arrangements of the current hits). Al Bowlly – famous British crooner of the 1930s - was in 1929/30 with Fred Bird’s band as their vocalist and guitarist/banjoist. In 1929 the new black Homocord label was made and the dance profile was changed into more jazz-oriented, and Fred Bird’s band’s recordings were often presented on air. However in 1933, due to the victory of the Nazi party in Germany, Fred Bird’s orchestra was disbanded and the Homocord label was absorbed by the German/ Swedish Carl Lindström group (Gloria+Beka+Homocord+Odeon+Parlophon). During he Third Reich decade, little is known about Fred Bird’s career. According to some sources, he was murdered in Auschwitz in 1942, while the Berlin Business Directory mentions his name as the Berlin resident, still in the 1950s.
