More than 4,500 customers in Buncombe County lost power Friday, including some area schools. Most of the outages were in Candler and in East Asheville. School crews took generators to WD Williams Elementary and Community High School, which lost power. But both schools had their power back by about 9 a.m. Friday.Duke Energy blames the outage on problems at a substation. It's the same one that failed January 7th that put thousands of homes in the dark when the temperature dropped below zero.Engineers say they have now found a fix to keep the overloaded substation from shutting down. Duke Energy District Manager Jason Walls says workers made adjustments to the substation's settings and transferred some of the load from that substation to another. That should take care of the problem through cold weather predicted next week. _______________ Follow WLOS on social media: WLOS ABC 13 News on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/News13/ WLOS ABC 13 News on Twitter: https://twitter.com/WLOS_13 WLOS ABC 13 News on Instagram: https://instagram.com/wlos_13 Subscribe to WLOS on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/ABC13Channel/?sub_confirmation=1 Listen to AnchorMOMS, the Podcast: https://wlos.com/news/anchormoms/anchormoms-the-podcast Watch more top local news stories: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kk8Ge6UXHJs&list=PLkVbaoT-aYbIvnEpR0Ct5QQQqYaORUSUH For all of the day’s top local and national news, visit http://www.wlos.com Watch our live newscasts and other live video at https://wlos.com/watch Have a news tip?
