W‪hy do Americans vote on Tuesdays? Jacob Soboroff recounts how asking the simple question "why?" led to an unlikely but popular campaign to change the American election day. He calls on all of us to ‬question -- and then challenge -- everything.

Jacob Soboroff was a speaker at TEDActive 2011, and is the founding correspondent of AMC News on the award-winning network. He has hosted specials and reported from film festivals around the U.S. including the co-hosting of the NBC series School Pride, and exective producing and narrating the AMC original documentary Committed which was directed by Oscar and Emmy nominee Morgan Spurlock. In addition, Jacob has contributed to NPR Weekend Edition and the PBS/Wired Magazine series Wired Science.

In his TEDxPhoenix 11.11.11 TEDxTalk, Jacob takes us through his extraordinary journey with the question "Why?", and more specifically, the question "Why do we vote on Tuesday?"

The theme for TEDxPhoenix 11.11.11 was "_______ for a Change" and featured speakers from around the US who are exploring unique ideas that have brought about unexpected, interesting, and positive changes. Five hundred people from all over Arizona and the western US gathered at the Mesa Arts Center for an evening of thought provoking and entertaining talks.
