Let's Play Pitman #02: Kicking off the Difficulty

Pitman may start off relatively simple, but that's because the first section of the game has levels which teach you how the game works. They show you how the boulders move, how ladders and the destroyable dirt interact with things and most importantly, how to kick enemies in the face. By doing this, you can learn nearly all the mechanics of the game without needing an instruction manual, making Pitman easy for anyone to pick up and play. The complexity comes in applying the lessons that you've learned along the way towards puzzles of ever increasing difficulty. Fortunately the game doesn't have to be completed in one sitting, allowing you to get passwords which will let you continue where you left off. I can remember a few puzzle games that didn't have passwords and let me tell you, it was not fun to replay the parts you'd already done every time you wanted to get to new stuff.

Speaking of replaying parts you've already done, we're fast approaching the point where my memory of this game gets hazy. I never completed it when I was younger, getting stumped by the later levels as they grew exceptionally complex. It's a given that we move further into the one hundred level challenge the monsters have set us, I'm going to need to take longer to figure out the solution to the problems placed before me. The pace of advancement may slow but it will not stop, for we cannot leave Catboy and Catgirl cursed. No, they must succeed and along the way, they must kick every monster they meet in the face. 

Perhaps they too have mastered the art of Kick Fu, but who can say? They certainly won't, for they let their feet do the talking or rather, the kicking.
