Philadelphia Zoo Curassow, Gertie ... Last Video

Ever since the McNeil Avian Center opened in March, 2010, Gertie has been an enthusiastic and cooperative subject for my videos. In fact, if I happened to be recording videos of the other birds, she often found a way to insert herself in those videos, too. But the zoo has decided to take her off exhibit to participate in the avian breeding program. I wish there could be a way for visitors to see her and her new mate throughout the courtship, egg-laying, and chick-raising phase of Gertie's life in the same way we were able to see the Victorian crowned pigeons so many times throughout the years. I will definitely miss seeing my special favorite Gertie. And I know a lot of other visitors will, too.
