Monty Parker Jr. gives a statement during his sentencing at the Kent County Courthouse on Monday, Aug. 6, 2018. Parker pleaded no contest for a January rear-end crash on U.S. 131 that killed a pregnant woman and her 3-year-old son. According to family, she pulled to the shoulder and was calling her father for help when the vehicle was struck from behind by a Ford F-150. The crash killed the Nissan driver, Valery Arreola-Rodriguez, 21, and her unborn child. She was eight months pregnant. Her 3-year-old son, Guillermo, died nine days later at a hospital. He was known as "Memo." Another son, 5-year-old Max, was not seriously injured.
