(29 Nov 2018) LEADIN: The Christmas tree is up by the Church of the Nativity. And Palestinian officials in Bethlehem have announced that the area's different institutes are also ready for Christmas celebrations. STORYLINE: The Christmas tree is up by the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. The festive season is less than a month away. Christian pilgrims from around the world will come to join the celebrations and to visit the ancient Bethlehem Church of the Nativity built over the site where it is believed Jesus Christ was born. The church was built around 327 AD by Saint Helena, over a cave where the Virgin Mary is said to have given birth. Palestinian officials are hosting a press conference to announce that the area's different institutes are prepared. Rula Ma'ayah, Palestinian Tourist Minister, is expecting a busy season this year. "We can see that most of the hotels are fully booked, not only in Bethlehem but also in the other Palestinian cites so I think there is an increase in tourist numbers this year," she says.
