It took us some time to recover from lack of sleep at the hospital but I am back to work full time at the off grid homestead.

I have finally caught up on sleep and am working again. It took me a while to recover since we only got a few minutes of sleep here and there last week.

I cleaned up the yard around the chalet and the garage where things had been piling up during the last couple weeks.

I sorted out thing from the wood shop and garage, putting them in the proper places. The wood shop had become a dumping place for anything and everything since the garage was filled when we bought this property.

Now that the garage is somewhat cleaned out I can put stuff out there that belongs there. And then I can sort out the wood shop and get using it like I always wanted to.

I rearranged the wood shop as well. I wanted to move the shelves which were between the window and the door, swapping it out with the work bench on the side wall.

I finally got to this project. It gives me a lot more room somehow. Now I can reach all the shelves with comfort. I can work at the work bench and the band saw comfortably as well.

I put a storage shelf under the work bench and I am moving all my fasteners, nails and screws onto that shelf. This clears off the wood shelves to allow me to put tools neatly on them.

I picked a whole bunch of tomatoes that my Mom and I are going to can. This was a nice garden harvest and makes all of our work worthwhile.

I have been struggling to save the tomato plants from freezing all summer. We had freezing nights all the way through this year. And now it is paying off.

I forgot to mention that I also picked my first hand full of Thai Dragon chili peppers the other day from the little greenhouse. These I had also saved from the frost. The plants had been frost damaged and recovered in the greenhouse, giving me fruit.

Our meat chickens are looking better than ever. This is the healthiest and strongest batch of chickens we have had yet. Due to the colder nights the birds are feathered out and beautiful. They are actually stronger as well somehow.

I picked my one and only apple from an apple tree I found out in the woods. I plan to trim this tree and nurture it so we can have more fruit next year.

Melanie and I took the baby out for a stroll. I have a stroller that I have never tried yet and I am surprised how easily it snaps together.

Melanie is not yet up to longer walks though so we just made it about two lengths of our yard before we had to turn around and head for home.

I got a stainless steel wood stove pipe for scrap metal price today. And there was a stainless steel stove pipe cap for the top. This was such a bargain! Now we are getting closer to having everything we need to install the wood stove in our tiny house.

It was 80 degrees today and quite windy so my Mom did the laundry and put it out to dry for us while I worked in the yard.

Melanie is pretty much busy full time with the baby these days and due to her surgery she does not get around much yet.

Out in the wood shop I managed to get it mostly cleaned up. I still have a bit of work to go but I figure that in the next day it will be ready for work.
