This video features class material taught at Blues in my Shoes May 24. Kenny Nelson and Pippa Tooher taught this Level 2 (Intermediate) class for Blues in My Shoes.

The moves today were inspired by the Spirit Moves documentary, specifically from the Juke Joint (or Rent Party?) and Ballroomin' sections. We first started with an unusual posture for our close embrace. We made sure to bend at the hips and take our chest past our knees when connecting to our partner. We talked a lot of posture and keeping a neutral spine from our lower back to top of the head. This position inspired a rockstep where the follow does kick replaces.

Next, we led on outside turn into a rotational stretch (follows really committing to the direction and rotation and leaders really counterbalancing and weight committing). We then practiced redirecting her down the line toward us finishing in a corte dip. From here, leader's added a left leg lift on the counterbalance stretch and then a step kick on the redirect. This added some nice flash to the pattern.
