Melting a Glass Rod with a MAPP burner to make an Optic Fibre

Using a MAPP burner, I melted a glass rod! As the bottom piece fell it stretched a fibre of glass so thin it was like a spiders web and was quite flexible. This is very similar to how a glass optic fibre is made.
