(6 Nov 1985) SP11118513 PORTUGAL SOCCER UEFA CUP 2nd round. Sporting Lisbon defeat Dinamo Tirana 1-0. Sporting Lisbon defeated Dinamo Tirana of Albania 1-0 on Wednesday (Nov. 6th) in a second round, second leg match of the UEFA Cup. Sporting advanced into the third round on the strength of the win. Tirana held the home team to a goalless first half as goal keeper Laurabi brilliantly fought off a relentless barrage of shots. Finally, though, in the 54th minute Pedro Venancio knocked in a rebound from yet another Laurabi save to enable Sporting to scrape out a win. Even that took nothing away from Laurabi's goalmouth mastery - defensive play that was all the more remarkable because Laurabi, like his teammates, is an amateur. In fact, the Lisbon coach afterwards paid him the ultimate compliment. He said he'd hire him if he could.
