The E-Type was initially designed and shown to the public as a rear-wheel drive grand tourer in two-seater coupé form (FHC or Fixed Head Coupé) and as a two-seater convertible (OTS or Open Two Seater). A "2+2" four-seater version of the coupé, with a lengthened wheelbase, was released several years later. On its release Enzo Ferrari called it "The most beautiful car ever made."

Later model updates of the E-Type were officially designated "Series 2" and "Series 3", and over time the earlier cars have come to be referred to as, sensibly, "Series 1" and "Series 1½".

The New York City Museum of Modern Art recognized the significance of the E-Type's design in 1996 by adding a blue roadster to its permanent design collection, one of only six automobiles to receive this distinction.

This particular 1974 Jaguar Series 3 EKE has benefited from a beautiful restoration and has been meticulously maintained with over $40k in receipts dating back to 2000. This is a very well sorted out XKE that will make the next owner extremely happy! The new British Racing Green paint is beautiful and has a stunning classic appearance and has been professionally refinished in base coat and clear coat. The same goes for the chrome bumpers that shine like new. The rest of the chrome and stainless accents are equally as nice with no imperfection that we have found. The Biscuit convertible top is also as new, with only some minor imperfections from being opened and closed.

Inside the Biscuit leather interior is in excellent condition with no major wear. The same goes for the Wilton Wool carpets, door panels and dashboard. This is a very solid example of the final year of the E --Types production and the recent restoration with the previous owners care really shows inside and out.

Under the hood boasts the desired 5.3-liter V12 attached to a manual 4-speed transmission makes this vehicle a joy to drive. This vehicle is also equipped with A/C, however it is inoperative. All the air conditioning needs to function is a blower motor! The chrome wire wheels are wrapped with brand new Michelin Pilot XGT V4 215/60 tires. At 68k miles the XKE was major serviced with new clutch, new mounts, new control arms, new alternator, new starter, new struts and new aluminum radiator with electric fan. The included previous owners log is a fascinating read about the extensive details on the care of this stunning XKE over the years. To drive this car is a sheer joy, which accelerates as it should and handles equally impressively.

This Jaguar is a beautiful example of fine European craftsmanship and would make an excellent investment vehicle with the desirable BRG matched with the last year of the Series lll!
