It has been a busy summer of construction, but after 2 months of hard work, Grizzer entered his new habitat on Monday morning. Initially he was cautious, but after several hours, he was freely moving between the two enclosures. The design allows him to continue to use the Pack Holding Area and have a direct view of the wolf lab, but if there is too much activity in the wolf yard, he can retreat to the new area. His head has completely healed with new skin, now we are waiting for the advancement of hair growth. He received daily lanolin treatments that keep the area soft and pliable. This slow advancement of hair follicles may take months. Grizzer is always interested in Oscar's presence in the wolf yard. We didn't have a chance to film Oscar this week, he is actively socializing with staff and has been on many field trips, hiking, swimming and is scheduled to go to his first BBQ tonight.
