As most "old timers" remember, Nick Creme, from Akron, Ohio,  invented the Crème Worm around 1950.   As a kid growing up, I had a Crème Worm with some kind of fan blade spinning thing and three hooks in the body.....but didn't have much luck with it.  Around 1967, Tom Mann, an angler from Lake Eufaula, Alabama, introduced the now famous Jelly Worm and the nationwide craze for these new, crazy lures was underway.  Looking at these  strange lures and their strange colors:  purple, blue, red, green..., my initial thoughts were "no fish in its right mind would ever bite one of these things".  I had a 180 degree change of mind the first time I used plastic worms in the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Area ponds and the various ponds on the E and W ranges of Ft. Sill, Oklahoma in the early 70s.  In the hot summers of Oklahoma, guess what was the best lure, hands down, to use in these (as I discovered) bass-infested ponds and small lakes?  Correct:  plastic worms!  Now here we are in 2018 and there's tons of brands, sizes, shapes, colors and formula for plastic worms and they remain an amazing tool for catching fish in the right place at the right time.  In this video, Bear Paws hand poured custom 6-inch Prowler Worms do a great job of enticing lethargic bass  hunkered down in hydrilla beds.  The seductive ribbon tail of the Prowler Worms is really amazing and no doubt is what elicits a lot of strikes.
