#Nagda, 41 km from Ratlam and 225 km from Kota is in #Ujjain district of Madhya Pradesh. Located in the Malwa region on the banks of #Chambal, is 683 km from both Delhi and Mumbai. Previous name was nag-dah which means cremation / burning (dah) of snakes (nag). The ancient city was developed by king Janmejay, a Hindu King of Pandava Dynasty. Nagda is mentioned in the literature of Kalidasa.

The Chambal River is a tributary of the Yamuna River, and forms part of the greater Gangetic drainage system. The River flows north-northeast through Madhya Pradesh, running for a time through Rajasthan, then forming the boundary between Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh before turning southeast to join the Yamuna in Uttar Pradesh.

It is a legendary River and finds mention in ancient scriptures. The Chambal River is utilized for hydro power generation at Gandhi Sagar dam, Rana Pratap Sagar dam and Jawahar Sagar Dam
