Ping Pong Diplomacy Chinese American Fusion Restaurant SM Aura BGC.  Ping Pong diplomacy is a Chinese American Fusion Restaurant opened in SM Aura in January 2017 by techtrepreneur turned restauranteur Charles Paw of the Tasteless Group with a menu created by a team of his avant-garde Chefs including Him Uy de Baron, Miko Aspiras and Noel Mauricio.  The Tasteless Food Group has several concepts under their umbrella: Le Petit Souffle, Scout’s Honor, Freezer Burn, Wrong Ramen, Hole in the Wall, Fowlbread, Bad Bird, Ping Pong Diplomacy and The Beef. In addition, they also operate franchised brands such as Hanamaruken Ramen, Kushikatsu Daruma, and have established friendly partnerships with other concepts like Your Local and Hey Handsome.  This Binondo inspired eatery will definitely catch your attention with an open kitchen with dimsum steamers combined with pop art and ping pong paddles lined up as a wall accent.  

The name Ping Pong Diplomacy was derived from the exchange of table tennis players between the United States and People's Republic of China in the early 1970s during the Nixon era and a step in the right direction towards easing tensions during the cold war.    With the décor initially digested, this a prelude to the meal to follow but you can expect Chinese food that has been reimagined for the palette.  We weren’t a fan of everything we ordered but from their menu we would highly recommend the Warm Mushroom and Arugula Salad, the Wonton Cheeseburger and the original egg tart for a light snack.
