Boris Johnson bought the three controversial cannons in 2014 but was banned from putting the cannons into service by Theresa May, who was then Home Secretary. He splashed out some £320,000 to buy and refurbish them, and they have racked up tens of thousands more in storage costs. But after years gathering dust they have finally been sold - for just £11,025 to a firm that will dismantle the machines and sell them for parts, London's City Hall said.
