The technical ability involved with changing chords on guitar can be quite challenging. Whether it's stretching to reach certain notes, or switching from one chord over to another. The hands and fingers need to be dexterous. The more agile the fingers are, the easier it will be to re-locate the fingering from one chord over to another. Plus, the level of dexterity that a guitarist develops is tied to the level of agility they have when it comes to creating chord shapes. The more finger dexterity that a player has, the easier it'll be when performing complex chord movements. This also leads the guitar player toward performing more complex guitar passages in more advanced styles of music as well.
