He will be talking you through his DIY punk aesthetics, details on the productions he has been involved with, new intuitive ways of making music in 2016 & much more. From humble beginnings, born on a Longsight Council Estate to Punjabi parents, Aziz grew up to become Stone Roses and Ian Brown band guitarist/co-writer, and has one of the most unusual musical histories and styles any artist could hope for. He’s a man who can make any guitar sound like a sitar, koto or sarangi and then launch into Hendrix, Metallica or Prince the next. The years have seen him grow in strength as a songwriter, with numerous writing credits for Ian Brown, Paul Weller and Akala to name a few. He’s spent years in reggae bands suited up in Simply Red, got funky in The Players, was the only Asian in prog rocker’s ‘Asia’, the only Muslim in ‘The Christians’, got experimental with JBK, Yukihiro Takahashi, (Yellow Magic Orchestra), the h band and more recently the Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) band. Aziz has done it all, from leading masterclasses as a guitar hero at the famed Abbey Road and BBC Maida Vale Studios, to being invited to Buckingham Palace by Her Majesty The Queen in honour of his contribution to the UK’s countries economy and culture.
