Cooking for a Street Feast in China - Chinese Street Food

After doing a bit of shopping at my local farmer's market in Chengdu, China, I stumbled upon a bunch of cooks preparing for a street feast. I'm not sure what the occasion was, but in China it's not uncommon to see a group of tables set out on the street and kitchen staff cooking up a multi-course meal. This particular group was preparing potatoes and intestine (actually a pretty tasty dish if done right), a pork belly stew (super yum), a soup with ribs and corn (classic family feast dish in China), some steamed fish, french fries, chicken wings, and a whole lot more.

I love watching food being prepared in large quantities. Just the size of the wok alone impresses me. Most of the cooks were happy to have me there, but eventually a guy (perhaps the boss) came over and told me I wasn't allowed to take photos. There were actually a bunch of people standing around taking shots, but he didn't have a problem with them being there. This is not uncommon in China, and it's something that I don't bother putting up too much of a fuss up about. Foreigners have only been allowed to visit China since the late 70s, so some of the older people still have a distrust towards us. Based on the stereotypes towards Chinese people that I see in the western media, I can't say that I blame them.
