A bird's eye view of the Mettupalayam to Udagamandalam (or Ootacamund) Passenger chugging up the steep gradient toward Coonoor, on the rack section of the metre-gauge Nilgiri Mountain Railway; powered by a vintage Swiss built steam engine; converted recently from coal-firing to oil-firing mode. The main road, with heavy traffic, runs alongside as the train nears the railway level crossing barrier at Coonoor, where the engine disengages from the centrally laid rack-bars.
