This amazing replica was painstakingly patterned and detailed by master Hollywood modelers to match the original rifles used in the classic first Planet of the Apes movie (1968). With the exception of the strap hardware (leather strap and ties, metal springs, loops, and screws), the rest of the fourty or so parts used on this re-creation were all fabricated in durable urethane resins and plastics. There is no wood or metal anywhere else on this prop. The expert painters are fooling your eyes! The stock has a durable automotive clear-coat finish to protect the screen accurate detailing. The exposed urethane rifle parts were painted to resemble aged gunmetal. This replica movie prop rifle meets ATF requirements for "non-gun" status and CAN NOT be made to fire real ammunition of any kind. Although it may look realistic, there are no moving parts in the solid dummy receiver. The trigger assembly is spring-loaded. It's a prop, folks! This is considered APEMANIA's "economy" model, for those Gorillas on a budget. There are deluxe airsoft versions available for those higher ranking simian solders with Forbidden Zone sized piggy banks. Us ape kids always wanted one of these when way back in the day, but Mattel was only rehashing old cowboy pistols, Winchesters, and Tommy Guns... http://apemania.com/TOYS/ToyMasks&guns.jpeg http://apemania.com/TOYS/WHAT_IT_WASx3.jpg Slapping a Planet of the Apes sticker on a six shooter doesn't make it a Planet of the Apes gun! Who did they think they were kidding? Not us kids! So we made our own!
