Birmingham City Council Presents Birmingham Eid Mela, Proud to be British, Proud to be Muslim. Birmingham Eid Mela comes to Kings Heath Park to celebrate the diversity of the Muslim Community in Birmingham through its culture, food, sport, art and entertainment. Now in its ninth year, the festival is bigger and better than ever and there is something for everyone, so join us in celebrating all the communities living in Birmingham. The importance of the Birmingham Eid Mela is that it is a celebration of Eid which is celebrated to mark the end of the Muslim period of fasting. The event takes place in summer so communities can enjoy the feeling of festivity in summer weather. This is a free annual event and promises fun for the whole family. There will be a funfair, a sports area hosting a Kabbadi match and weightlifting, a bazaar with clothing, jewellery, music and craft stalls and a whole host of catering units selling traditional Asian food. With international, National and local artists headlining the stage, this promises to be a fantastic and entertaining day for everyone. The Birmingham Eid Mela is organised in partnership by Birmingham City Council, Muslim Organisations and the Muslim Community in Birmingham.
