The Charlieville ASJA Girls' College is said to be up and running. There was a tuberculosis scare at the school earlier this week when a member of the school's auxiliary staff died. On Friday, TTT News was told that 823 out of a total of 920 students were present for classes, and 42 of the 47 teachers were also present. At the ASJA Primary School in San Fernando, there was concern about the safety of the facility after it was claimed there was an outbreak of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease on the compound. The concerns were raised after three students fell ill and were treated for vomiting and diarrhoea. On Thursday, Ministry of Health officials visited the school and carried out tests on the compound, but have not confirmed the presence of this disease.
