It can only be done if you hit 6KP to the opponent's back AND the P would otherwise have caused the cliff transition anyways. You're cancelling the fall animation with the pick-up. If attempting on a front facing opponent you are not able to pick up the character during the fall transition. This provides no additional damage or advantage, just is funny to watch.
