(29 Nov 2018) A glittering performance of Beauty and the Beast was held in Moscow on Thursday evening to mark the opening of the ice-skating rink in the city's Red Square. The rink, nestled between the GUM shopping centre and the Kremlin walls, is a prime spot for skating during the winter months. Olympic figure skating champion Tatiana Navka - who is the wife of Dmitry Peskov, Russian President Vladimir Putin's press spokesman - performed as the main character in the show. Fore more than 10 years now, Red Square - a place long associated with officialdom and solemnity - has been transformed into a huge sparkling, twinkling ice rink for the festive season and New Year celebrations.
