Djimon Hounsou stars in the Warner Bros. action packed and heartfelt franchise film 'The Legend of Tarzan'. Incredibly striking on camera with the white powder make up, Djimon's character is one of great poise, dignity, and pride as he portrays Chief Mbonga. His character was initially introduced to audiences in the very first Tarzan story by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Tarzan of the Apes. In his interview with Black Hollywood Today, Hounsou talks about the importance of Africans owning and telling their own narratives in a very much white dominated entertainment industry. It's not everyday that we get a chance to hear from actors of color who choose to speak out on issues and injustices beyond the 140 characters, often putting their own careers on the line.
