An early spring snowstorm shut down the Federal Government in Washington DC for a day, but left very little snow. We got 4 inches of heavy, wet snow in Sterling, VA, and over a foot of snow at our property 100 miles west in Romney, WV. This iPhone video captures scenes of the storm in Sterling, VA and three days afterwards at our property in WV, where there was just enough of the frozen white stuff for tobogganing down the slopes of our meadow. Notice the tree damage from the heavy snow and high winds. We were fortunate - it could have been much worse. Our Norwegian Elk Hound, Shadow, was in her element, hunting mice and moles and playing in the snow.
