Fighting Breast Cancer in the Miami Valley

Miami Valley Two separate events were held Saturday to raise awareness for breast cancer. In Xenia, people got up and moving to stop out cancer, during a Zumbathon. The Zumbathon was held at the YMCA in Xenia to raise money for people who are currently battling cancer. We also have a bow in our background that says I'm dancing for so anyone who knows a breast cancer survivor or someone who has passed from breast cancer. We are putting their names up there just in remembrance of, said Lisa Jones, YMCA Program Director. This was the first year for the event. Organizers hope to make it a yearly fundraiser. In Dayton another fundraiser was underway. The Pink Ribbon Girls held its annual event Ignite the Fight. The group helps women fighting breast cancer. The fundraiser was held at the UD Arena. The event was a big success. They sold all of their tickets. Pink Ribbon Girls provides several different services to families fighting breast cancer during treatments. "Our mission is to help ease the minds of families going through breast cancer treatment. We do that through our Simply No Age No Stage programs. We provide free meals provided by a chef, housekeeping and transportation for those going through breast cancer treatments. said Diana Featherstone, The Director of Marketing. The event was filled with music, motivational speakers and an auction. They had a record-breaking crowd of 450 people. This is the third annual Ignite The Fight fundraiser.
