I had several requests to make a Rubber Band Powered Car that will pick up an object and carry it for 2 metres. 

Main components
-
Letter tray
4 CDs/DVDs
8 plastic bottle tops
Wooden dowels or bbq skewers
ball pen tubes or similar plastic tubes
rubber bands - you may need string to extend them

Hot Glue Gun
Sharp knife
Drill
