http://www.pamsdogtraining.com We were messing around working on backward figure 8's and I thought that I would just video our training session and if all went well, then I would do a tutorial. :) Looks like it all went well. HAHA! Twix really is a fast learner, so do not be discouraged if you need to stay on one step for longer. I have also taught him how to follow my hand as a target and a lure (with or without food in my hand). It also helped that he has good rear end awareness and loves doing backward circles. Go at your pace with your dog. I am thinking that a smaller dog would be easier as they have more space in between your legs, but if you have a larger dog, help them at first by moving your leg in a way that will help them get around it. I just bent my knee so that Twix could get around better. I will post a video response to this video once he is doing this trick better. :) Training backward circles: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-2LdFoHEck http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CePb8Tzy4Pc - Not really a how to video, but it shows how it is helpful it is to have the dog practice the backward circles around things to build up their understanding of the cue and the behavior.
