On New Year's Eve between 5.00pm and 9.30pm GMT, the earth will cast a shadow on the moon's surface creating a partial eclipse of the moon as seen from Earth. The eclipse will be visible anywhere on the Earth's surface that is experiencing night between 5.00pm GMT and 9.30pm GMT.
