This Q&A for our Closing Night film, The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution features moderator Michelle Materre, filmmaker Stanley Nelson and film subject Jamal Joseph. This film screened on June 21, 2015 at the IFC Center in NYC. Through our Human Rights Watch Film Festival we bear witness to human rights violations and create a forum for courageous individuals on both sides of the lens to empower audiences with the knowledge that personal commitment can make a difference. The HRW Film Festival currently presents festivals and screening events in over 20 cities around the world throughout the year. Following each film presentation, we host discussions with filmmakers and HRW festival or research staff to expand on and explore the issues featured in the film.
