This film is a cautionary tale about reckless driving and its tragic consequences. The protagonist, Jean, is caught between two boys, Nick and Larry. Nick is a daredevil who drives a hot rod dangerously fast, while Larry is more cautious and concerned for Jean's safety. After attending a football game, Jean accepts a ride from Nick, who disregards safety and engages in reckless behavior, even after being warned about "teen-side" (a term for dying young through dangerous driving). Later, at a dance, Nick insists on a short drive around the lake, and despite Jean's pleas to slow down, he speeds and attempts a dangerous maneuver on a curve. This leads to a fatal accident involving another car, leaving Jean severely injured and her life irrevocably changed.
