Indy Schools Plan Extreme Makeover

The Independence School District is asking for the public's help in getting the schools it's taking over from the Kansas City, Mo. district ready for fall classes. Independence officials are planning an Extreme School Makeover for the six buildings and hope the public will donate supplies. "People are bringing in brooms, buckets, paint rollers, garden hoses, anything you need for cleaning, painting and gardening," said Megan Rivers of Blue Ridge Bank & Trust, one of the drop-off sites. Among other things, organizers hope to get 650 gallons of paint, 250 boxes of trash bags and more than 1,000 pairs of work gloves.
